We built you a working day.
Anxious patients, stressed staff and worried clinicians, all stuck with software in fifteen shades of grey. Has any industry ever needed a shot of joy more than dentistry?
Joyful might sound like a big word for software. It shouldn’t. There’s joy in an ordinary working day when the everyday jobs get done with confidence and pride. Those small wins are what job satisfaction is made of, and that’s why we built Joyful.
Jack married a dentist and watched clunky old systems stretch her working day. He built a dental booking product, sold it to Henry Schein, and saw from the inside how market leaders stop improving once they’re comfortable. Joyful is the fix.
Our team has 176 years in dentistry between us and a dental tech exit behind us. A practising dentist signs off every clinical workflow before it ships.
Our why
We’ve watched it happen in practice after practice. When the software gets out of the way, the team has a better day, and a team having a better day looks after patients better.
So we started with one question: how do we make dental software a joy to use? A typical practice runs eight separate systems that don’t talk to each other. Staff learn one new system after another, switch between browser tabs all day, and hunt for where a conversation took place. They’ve become the glue holding the systems together, when they should be on the front line building relationships with patients. And the practice pays around £1,706 a month for it, whether those systems earn their keep or not.
Joyful puts all of that in one system, and we changed how we get paid. Our fee isn’t a licence that stays the same whether your practice is thriving or struggling, and we don’t charge for text messages. We earn a fee for each patient on your plan, so the only way we grow is by helping you sell more plans.
Plans matter because they keep people coming back. A patient on a plan sees their dentist and hygienist on a regular schedule, so problems get caught while they’re small and cheap to fix. In 2024/25, tooth decay was the most common reason children aged 5 to 9 were admitted to hospital in England, ahead of tonsillitis. Most of that decay could have been prevented. Every patient who joins a plan is one more person getting regular preventive care, and one less likely to end up in an emergency appointment or a hospital bed.

Where we’re heading
We want dentistry to run on software people enjoy using. The everyday work gets lighter, care becomes more preventive, and patients, teams and practices all do better for it.
The team
Five people, 176 years in dentistry between us, and a practising dentist who signs off every clinical workflow.

Jack
CEO
Jack is married to a dentist and has spent years wanting to fix the headaches she lives with in her working day. He built his last dental company and sold it to Henry Schein. Joyful is the fix.

Valerio
Operations
Valerio has an MBA and came to us from Amazon and Rolls-Royce. He brings that operational eye to how Joyful runs, and to how your practice can run more efficiently. Before Joyful, he and Simran ran a dental AI software company, the first AI company to exhibit at the London and Birmingham Dentistry Shows.

Simran
Finance
Simran’s background is in economics and finance, and he has run his own business for the last 15 years. Before Joyful, he and Valerio ran a dental AI software company, the first AI company to exhibit at the London and Birmingham Dentistry Shows. He reads the numbers the way an owner does.

Tom
Design
Tom leads design at Joyful. He makes the software intuitive, intelligent and straightforward, so the next thing to do is always the obvious one.

Megan
Sales
Megan was a dental nurse before she joined us. She saw how well Joyful works, and now she wants every dental team to feel the joy. Literally.
