Practice Management

Take the money where the work is.

Your card machine doesn’t talk to the patient record. So when a patient says “I paid last week” and you can’t see it, you either take their word for it or start an argument.

In Joyful, the charge lands on the patient’s balance when the work is done. They pay on the card reader at the desk or by link on their phone, and the payment sits against the treatment it paid for.

How it works

  1. 01

Get paid at the desk or from the sofa

A card reader or a seven day payment link, both on the same balance.

Patients pay on the card reader at the desk, or by a payment link that lasts seven days and opens with their date of birth. Part payments happen on the card reader. A payment link always takes the full treatment balance. Every discount needs a reason, which is saved on the record.

    • Both ways of paying land on the same balance.
    • Discounts can’t slip through quietly, because each one needs a reason.
    • If the card reader is offline, Joyful tells you rather than pretending it took the payment.

    Protect your chair time

Deposits follow your rules, and unpaid ones release the slot.

You decide who pays a deposit, based on risk, history, notice, value or membership. A deposit link lasts ten minutes. If it isn’t paid, the appointment is cancelled and the patient is told. The cancellation is the practice’s, so it doesn’t count against the patient next time.

    • Deposits don’t have to be all or nothing.
    • The chair is never held for a maybe.

    Books that match the bank

Every refund has its own receipt next to the original payment.

When you refund a patient, the refund gets its own receipt and the original payment stays on the record. Your books show what happened.

The small print

  • Patients pay the full treatment balance in the app. Part payments happen at the desk, and shop items can’t be paid in the app.
  • Cash and bank transfers are recorded in the books. The take payment buttons are card reader and payment link.
