Planning Your Operations & Day

An emergency stops every other screen.

Someone needs help in surgery two. Reception is on the phone. The hygienist has headphones in. The person who needs help is relying on a shout carrying down the corridor.

In Joyful, one press in the left bar takes over every logged-in screen in the practice. Everyone sees who needs help and which room they are in. Booking an urgent patient is a separate, calmer button.

Emergency

How it works

  1. 01

Get help to the right room, fast

One press shows every logged-in screen who needs help and where.

The emergency button sits in the left bar on every screen in Joyful. When someone presses it, every other logged-in screen shows a full screen alert with the name of the person who raised it and the room they are in. The alert stays on screen until someone clears it.

    • Your team doesn’t need a separate device or a panel on the wall.
    • The alert names the room, so help goes to the right surgery.
    • It never fades on its own after a few seconds.

A real emergency can’t be dismissed by accident

For two minutes, only the person who raised it can clear it for everyone.

Anyone can dismiss the alert on their own screen. Clearing it for the whole practice is a separate step, and for the first two minutes only the person who raised it can do that. A well-meant tap from someone in another room can’t bury a real emergency.

    • Dismissing the alert only affects your own screen.
    • For two minutes, only the person who raised it can clear it for everyone.

Send urgent patients to the right place

A short triage checklist runs before any emergency booking.

Booking an emergency patient starts with a short checklist. If the patient has any danger signs, Joyful points to A&E or 999, not a dental chair. If they don’t, the book offers times, including emergency time you have held back, which opens to everyone two hours ahead. A patient who is already at the desk is booked straight in as arrived.

    • Urgent means care within 24 hours. Danger signs go to A&E or 999.
    • Held emergency time opens to everyone two hours ahead.
    Triage

The small print

  • The alert appears on screens logged in to Joyful. Anyone not logged in won’t see it.
  • The alert doesn’t call 999. It tells the people in your practice.
