Practice Management
The price they see is the price you set.
The fee list is a printout in a drawer, and member prices get typed in by hand. Someone gets one wrong at the desk, and the patient spots it before you do.
In Joyful, you set each member price once. The treatment plan, the patient app and the desk all use that list. Joyful shows a recommended cost as a guide, but you decide what you charge.

Catch under-priced treatments
The price box turns red when you charge less than the chair time costs.
In Practice management, then Pricing, each service has a member price. Joyful shows a recommended cost based on chair time, and the box changes colour if you’re charging less than that. A profit column shows the gap. You can set one hourly rate, or two if your dentists and hygienists cost different amounts.
- The recommended cost is a guide, and patients pay the price you choose.
- You can see an under-priced service before it costs you.
- Until you set a second hourly rate, everything uses the first.

A member saving patients can see
You set the member price, and everyone else’s is worked out for you.
The price you enter is what members pay. Everyone else pays a slightly higher, rounded price, like £109.00 rather than £108.37. If you mark a service as included for members, the price you entered is what everyone else pays.
- The member saving is the one you set, to the penny.
- When you change a main price, its variants move with it and keep their gap.

Raise prices without a scramble
Schedule a new price to start on a set date.
You can set a new price to start on a future date. Until then, the old price applies everywhere, and on the day the new one takes over across the plan, the app and the desk. Retail items sold at reception have their own stock list, separate from clinical stock.
The small print
- Fillings are priced by size. Bridges and dentures aren’t, so a five unit bridge costs the same as a three unit bridge unless you change it on the day.
- A longer appointment doesn’t cost more by default. Chair time sets the recommendation, and you set the price.
- If you haven’t set a price, Joyful charges the time based cost. Set your list to avoid this.
- This is your fee list. Joyful’s charge for the software is still £0.
