Clinical and Whilst In The Chair
Your notes hold up when someone asks.
Notes get written in the car park, half from memory. Every clinician writes them differently, so no two records match, and none of them quite matches what happened.
Joyful writes each procedure into the notes as it happens, following Dental Protection guidance and procedures for note taking. By the time the patient stands up, most of the note is already written. You check it, add anything in your own words, and lock it on the day. Any later change stays on the file with a reason.

How it works
01
Leave on time with your notes done
Joyful writes each procedure into the notes as it happens.
As you work, Joyful records each procedure in the notes: what you found, what you decided, the tests you ran and who was in the room. You can add a line in your own words, but the record stands without it. At the end of the day, the notes are mostly written.
- Procedures go into the notes as they happen.
- You can add your own sentence wherever it helps.
- Sharing texts the patient their plan or a summary. It doesn’t lock the record.

A record you can defend
A PIN locks the visit, and every later change needs a reason.
When the visit is done, you lock it with your PIN. You can still change the record afterwards, but you give a reason and the original stays visible. If nobody locks the visit, Joyful locks it at the end of the day.
- A record can’t be quietly changed a week later.
- Every change shows the reason and the original wording.

The next visit sorts itself
Marking a patient as leaving creates their next recall.
Marking a patient as leaving creates their next recall and clears them from the floor. If you skip it, the next exam isn’t created and ground control still shows them in the chair.
- Leaving creates the next exam and hygiene visit.
- It also tells reception the chair is ready for the next patient.

The small print
- You can lock a visit with gaps. Joyful records the reason, because a true record is better than a forced perfect one.
- Sharing and locking are separate. You can share during the visit and keep writing.
